Hope,
Such a rarefied concept these days

Despite being a silver bullet in this war
It comes so short in supply
At a time when the world is on its knees
Humanity rotten to its core
And we face a possible extinction

Death has become so imminent
As if it sends a prior notice
It now lurks in the shadows
Looking for yet another soul to devour
But we have only witnessed a  fraction
Others received a visitation from the angel of death himself
Collecting his dues without discrimination
From both  young and  old
Rich and poor alike

We have become a people so broken
Torn to pieces by grief
Crushed to pieces by sorrow
Haunted by our ghosts
Wishing we had made different choices
But  it is the urge to survive that keeps us going

Nevertheless,
This scourge shall pass
And the land shall heal
We will  then have a nation to build and a world to repair
But until then,
Stay home, stay safe
